Alta Strada to close Mosaic District location July 25

Fairfax County, Virginia — July 22, 2026

Alta Strada, an Italian restaurant and wine bar in the Mosaic District, will permanently close its Merrifield location on Saturday, July 25, 2026, according to FFXnow. The closure comes about seven months before the restaurant's tenth anniversary at the location.

The restaurant attributed the closure to a rent increase, calling it "impossible for us to continue," according to FFXnow.

The Merrifield location was Alta Strada's last presence in the Washington, D.C. area after its Mount Vernon Square location closed in November 2024, FFXnow reported.
