Tysons, Va. — July 22, 2026

Eataly confirmed Wednesday, July 22, 2026, that it will open its first Washington-area store at Tysons Corner Center, with an opening targeted for 2027, according to FFXnow and UrbanTurf.

The New York-based Italian food and retail chain will occupy a two-story space at the mall that American Girl vacated in January 2026, according to a company press release cited by FFXnow. The space will include sit-down restaurants, quick-service counters, and a specialty market stocked with Italian products, with both interior mall access and a separate street-level entrance.

Eataly and mall owner Macerich had declined for months to confirm the location publicly, even as construction crews worked on the former American Girl space and county permit filings pointed toward Eataly's plans, FFXnow reported.

A separate Fairfax County building filing shows the Chinese hot pot chain Haidilao also planned for a former American Girl space at the mall, FFXnow reported.

Eataly's route to the Washington region took more than a decade. UrbanTurf reported the chain first signed on in 2014 to anchor retail space at Capitol Crossing, the deck-over-the-freeway project in downtown Washington, D.C., before that deal collapsed by 2016.

The company now operates 69 locations across 16 countries, including 20 in the United States and Canada, per the press release.

The other restaurants expected to join Eataly's food hall have not been announced.
